Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and dynamic Sub Editor to join a leading media and television news organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for editing, scripting, content development, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of news content for television broadcasts and digital platforms.

The role requires strong language proficiency in Konkani and English, excellent journalistic instincts, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit, review, and refine news stories, scripts, and content for broadcast.
  • Prepare and proofread news scripts, headlines, and program content in Konkani and English.
  • Ensure factual accuracy, language quality, and editorial standards in all published content.
  • Coordinate with reporters, anchors, and production teams for smooth news operations.
  • Research and verify information from reliable sources.
  • Assist in content planning and news bulletin preparation.
  • Monitor current affairs, local developments, and emerging news stories.
  • Maintain strong relationships with sources and contacts across various sectors of society.
  • Support field reporting activities whenever required.
  • Contribute to the development of engaging and impactful news content.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Literature, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in journalism or media studies will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Experience in journalism, news editing, script writing, or television media preferred.
  • Experience in TV journalism and newsroom operations will be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent command over Konkani and English (written and spoken).
  • Strong script-writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Sound understanding of journalism ethics and news reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of current affairs, politics, social issues, and local developments.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical knowledge of camera handling and field reporting will be preferred.
  • Ability to build and maintain contacts with a diverse cross-section of society.
